Information We Collect and How We Use It

We designed LitSynced to minimize data collection.

Server & Infrastructure Data

When you visit the site or access audio files, our hosting providers (primarily Cloudflare Pages for static content and Cloudflare R2 for audio) automatically receive standard technical information, including:

• IP address and approximate geolocation
• Timestamps
• Requested URLs/resources
• HTTP referrer (if provided by your browser)
• Browser/device type and user agent
• Basic security and diagnostic data

We (and our infrastructure providers) use this data only to deliver the service, ensure security, detect and prevent abuse, debug issues, and maintain reliable operation. We do not sell this data.

No User Accounts

No registration, accounts, or logins are required. We do not collect names, email addresses, or other direct personal identifiers through normal use of the site.

Analytics and Advertising

We currently use no third-party analytics or advertising tools.

If we add any in the future, we will update this policy, prioritize privacy-preserving options, and clearly identify the providers.

Browser Storage (localStorage)

To enhance your reading and listening experience, the site stores non-personal preferences locally in your browser, such as:

• Light/dark theme
• Font size, line spacing, and other reading preferences
• Audio settings (volume, playback speed, etc.)
• Synchronization and auto-scroll settings

These settings are stored on your device only and are not sent to our servers.

Shared Links / Assignment Links

Some features use URL parameters or fragments to save reading state. This information is processed in the browser. If you share a link, the recipient will see the configured experience. You can clear this data anytime through your browser settings.

Newsletters and Email (Future)

If we offer a newsletter or email feature in the future, we will collect only the information you voluntarily provide. We will describe the purpose at signup, and you will always be able to unsubscribe. Details will be added to this policy.

Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

LitSynced is intended for users age 13 and older (high school students, educators, and adult learners). The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@litsynced.com. We will promptly investigate and delete it if applicable.

International Users and Data Transfers

Our primary audience is in the United States and Australia. Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where Cloudflare and our service providers operate. By using LitSynced.com, you consent to this transfer and processing.

Data Retention

We retain server and CDN logs only as long as needed for security, operations, and abuse prevention—typically ranging from a few days to a few months. We do not build long-term user profiles.

• Use tracker blockers, VPNs, or privacy tools (some features may be affected).
